Project Summary
The clients for 38 Banool Street wanted to take an original post war house in Ashgrove and transform it into a modern family home.
Raising the house to the legal limit an incorporating extensive cut at the front of the site allows a large two storey house without significant overshadowing of the neighbouring houses and reduced the need for excessive fill at the rear of this sloping site
From a modest but outdated 3 bed house with a mountain of unusable concrete underneath to a modern 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house, this dwelling incorporates all of these amenities within the existing house envelope. Added to this, the huge ground floor patio and first floor deck both overlook the inground pool to create a perfect family home, retaining the old post-war characteristics of the facade while giving it a major aesthetic upgrade at the same time.
