7 Lachlan Drive, Coomera

Project Summary

This house was designed for my wife’s parents, located on the Coomera River. Accounting for the triangular shaped block and sloping terrain, the design incorporated 4 levels across the site, affording spectacular views of the river from the enormous deck and high curved ceiling.

The house comprises a single garage off the street, with another double garage and large storage/rumpus area on the lowest level, with side access for storing the boat. The entry opens up to provide views down into the main lounge/dining area on the middle level and out to the river through the large stacking doors, with the kitchen nestled on the northern side with a bush outlook. The upper level comprises 3 large bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a shoji-screen theme used for the doors.

The use of render, timber and concrete floors give the house an earthy, relaxed atmosphere, softened by the gentle curves of the main roof forms visible from both the river and the street.
